To enable LocationHQ to monitor and manage your accounts, you need to add your credentials for third-party providers. This is required for managing social posts and responses, review responses, and updates to your listings. In addition, if your account has been set up by Chatmeter to support it, you can also create locations from third-party accounts.
In this article, learn about:
- Viewing third-party account information
- Adding credentials for third-party accounts
- Creating locations from Google accounts
Viewing third-party account information
You can get information about the third-party provider accounts associated with your business’s Chatmeter accounts.
To view information about third-party accounts, follow these steps:
- Login to your Chatmeter account in LocationHQ.
- Select the Settings (cog) icon > Third-Party Credentials.
All providers and accounts are listed. The total number of pages associated with the credential is listed, as well as information about credential expiration. You can hover over an account to expose icons to re-authenticate the account or delete it. - To view details about the pages, select the row to display the Associated Pages pane for the account.
On the Associated Pages pane, you’ll find listed details about the pages, including Name, Address, Location ID (if there is a Chatmeter location for the page), and Status (whether social activity is enabled for the page). You can select the pop-out icon to see the provider page.
Adding credentials for third-party accounts
Follow these steps to add a credential:
- Login to your Chatmeter account in LocationHQ.
- Go to Settings > Third-Party Credentials.
- Select +Add Credential to display the list of possible third-party providers for which you can add credentials. Select the one you need.
- Chatmeter sends you to the provider’s site that you’ve selected. Follow the steps requested to provide credentials.
- The provider’s site will give you a success notification online before returning you to the Chatmeter site. You can also see that your credentials and their expiration date will appear in the Credential List.
Circumstances requiring repeating the addition of a credential
Under some circumstances you might need or want to repeat the process of adding credentials to your LocationHQ account, including:
- If the credentials for your listing provider expire, you need to re-enter them into LocationHQ
- If the permissions in the third-party account change or pages are added or removed, the quickest way to ensure that the changes are reflected in LocationHQ is to repeat the process of adding the credential
Provider-specific requirements for third-party credentials
Some providers require preliminary or additional steps to enable you to manage activities from LocationHQ, including Apple, Facebook, and Google. Make sure you’ve done the following before you add credentials for these providers:
Apple
For Apple Maps listings you want to manage through Chatmeter, you must have an Apple Business Connect account, have delegated Chatmeter as a partner in your Apple Business Connect account, and provide details about the account to Chatmeter.
For information about setting up the Apple Business Connect account and delegating Chatmeter as a partner, see the help article Managing Apple Maps Listings through Apple Business Connect in the Locations and Listings section of the Chatmeter Support Center.
For Facebook accounts you want to sync with LocationHQ, the following is needed:
- The Facebook account added to LocationHQ must have the Manage Page permission for all pages that you want to sync with LocationHQ
- To select which Facebook or Instagram pages you want LocationHQ to access, when you add the Facebook account into LocationHQ, select Edit Settings to turn access on or off for the pages
For Google accounts you want to sync with LocationHQ, the following is needed:
- The account you enter in LocationHQ must own the Google pages
- The Google page must have been verified
For Instagram accounts you want to sync with LocationHQ, the following is needed:
- You must have a Business Instagram account. Each location must be connected to a single corresponding Facebook Business Page.
- To get data from Instagram or any service that integrates with Instagram, you must re-add your Facebook credentials
- Encourage people to tag your account instead of the location by creating or claiming the new location-specific pages. This allows more control over the posts people see about your business.
- To add publishing capabilities for your Instagram account, contact your Chatmeter Customer Success Manager or support@chatmeter.com
Yelp
For Yelp accounts you want to sync with LocationHQ, the following is needed:
- The account that is entered must have the pages "claimed" within the Yelp business account
- The business cannot be marked as closed by Yelp
Creating Chatmeter locations from Google accounts
If your account has been set up to support the function, you can create Chatmeter locations from existing Google account credentials.
Chatmeter uses all the data Google has for a credential page when creating it. When you create a location from a Google credentialed page, the location that results is built using the current name, address, phone, hours, and any other information that is currently associated with that page in the Google account. If you’re certain that the information Google has is accurate, this may simplify the process of creating locations in Chatmeter for your business.
To create a Chatmeter location from an existing account, follow these steps:
- Login to your Chatmeter account in LocationHQ.
- Go to Settings > Third-Party Credentials.
- Select the Google account’s row to display the Associated Pages.
Pages that don’t have Location IDs listed aren’t represented by Chatmeter locations. The Info notice at the top of the pane indicates that there are three pages that don’t have associated Chatmeter locations. - Select the Info notice to display the Create LHQ Locations dialog.
- In the Select Account chooser, specify the account to which you want the Chatmeter location(s) you create associated.
- Select the page you want used to create the location. You may select all by ticking to the left of Page Name to perform a bulk operation to create locations for all. Or you may select one or a subset by ticking next to the page names. Be sure the Google information is accurate before you proceed.
- Select Create Locations. A success notification displays and now a Chatmeter location ID shows for the page in the Associated Pages pane. You’ll also find your new location in the Locations > Locations list.
- Select the location in Locations > Locations to view the Location Details that were pulled in from the third-party provider.
You can add details for the Chatmeter location as needed. Unless you have Chatmeter Listing Management, this will not affect the third-party listing that was the source for the information. With Listing Management, once the location is created, it operates as any other location record and any change made to it would be pushed to listings.
