Before posting with Social, you’ll need to make sure you have thought through your approval process and that users who will be creating, approving, and publishing posts have the required permissions applied to their assigned user roles.
These are the user role settings that are used to manage user access to social publishing:
- Submit Social Post Drafts—The user can submit social post drafts, but their drafts must be approved by a user with Approve Social Posts in their user role before the drafts can be published
- Approve Social Posts—The user can publish their own social media posts or without needing approval. They can also approve, edit, or reject posts that other users have submitted.
Access to Social Publishing without Approve Social Posts permission requires the user to submit posts as drafts to be approved before publishing.
- Submit Social Comment Drafts—The user can submit draft responses to social posts, but their drafts must be approved by a user with Approve Social Comments in their user role before the drafts are published.
- Approve Social Comments—The user can publish their own responses to social media posts without needing approval. They can also approve, edit, or reject responses that other users have submitted.
Access to Social Publishing without Approve Social Comments requires the user to submit responses as drafts to be approved before publishing.
Setting up a user role for a post creator
Follow these steps to assign settings to a user role, which you’ll add to the user’s profile. In this example, a social media intern is responsible for writing the post copy and responding to customers’ posts, all of which must be approved by someone else before publishing.
Follow these steps:
- Login to your Chatmeter account in LocationHQ.
- Select the Settings (cog) icon from the top navigation bar on the right.
- Select User Roles from the left navigation menu.
- To create a user role for social content creation, select + Add New Role to display the Add New Role dialog.
- Type a name for the role. In this case, we want the individual with this role to be able to write posts as well as responses to customers’ posts. We name the role “Social Content Creator.”
- Select Save. The role appears on the User Roles page.
- Select the edit (pencil) icon next to Social Content Creator to access the Settings page so that you can select settings for the user role.
- Scroll to the Configuration settings.
- Scroll to the Social settings.
- For this role, drag and drop to add two Social permission settings: Submit Social Comment Drafts and Submit Social Post Drafts to the Enabled section.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save.
