Chatmeter Notifications are a sure way for users to get quick and specific notification of important information or events that might require timely action. When you set an event notification, the notification is delivered to Notifications in LocationHQ (bell-shaped icon in the upper right), and optionally, by email or a LocationHQ popup.
This article is for Chatmeter users who have Notifications permission in their Settings. It explains how to set preferences for receiving notifications and how to view, create, edit, and delete notifications.
Notification types include:
- Review Received
- Review Updated
- Task Approval Needed
- Task Assigned
- Task Overdue
- Social Post Failed
- Google Q&A
- Social Post Published
- Expired Credentials
Selecting how you want to receive notifications
When configured, notifications are delivered automatically in LocationHQ by the bell-shaped icon in the upper right, known as the notification list. You also have the option of receiving notifications by email or through a popup delivered to LocationHQ.
You acknowledge notifications on LocationHQ (either in a popup or under the notification’s list) by clicking on them.
Note that if you have already acknowledged receipt of a notification under the notification’s list or on a dashboard notification, then the email notification will not be sent.
Email notifications are sent by default every 15 minutes. Optionally, you can set them to send at 5-minute or 30-minute intervals.
To set up the optional delivery methods, follow these steps:
- Login to your Chatmeter account in LocationHQ.
- Select the Settings (cog) icon.
- On the My Profile page, select the Notification Preference toggles to switch Email and Popups notifications to your preference.
- Select Save.
Viewing and creating notifications
To view notifications and create a new notification, follow these steps:

- Login to your Chatmeter account in LocationHQ.
- To view current notifications, go to Settings > Notifications. You’ll see a list of notification events that are set up and active.
- To add a new notification event, select New Notifications to display the Create Notifications popup.
- In Create Notification, enter a unique name for the new notification.
- To indicate the triggers that will initiate the notification, in the Events dropdown, select the type of notification event you’d like to use.
- Each type of event has its own criteria filters. Specify the details using the Criteria filters for the notification you want.
You can use keywords to filter the posts that will trigger notifications for the following notification types:
- Social Comments
- Google Q&A
- Review Received
- Review Updated
The keywords can be a single word or compound text, such as “clean kitchen.”
- In Delivery, select how you would like your notification to be delivered. If you check Email, the notification recipients receive an email in addition to a notification in LocationHQ notification list (upper right bell-shaped icon). Note that the recipients’ profile delivery preference settings might override the delivery preference you set up for the notification.
- In Recipients, indicate who should receive notification.
By default, the default recipient is assigned to the notification and the notification recipient is spelled out. For example, for Task Assigned notification events, the default recipient is Assignee.
In events for which a notification default recipient isn’t tied to a specific user, for example Reviews, the option Custom is available. If you select Custom, then you can limit notification to users by username or by user role. The recipient list you choose from is filtered based on the usernames and user roles permitted access to the feature.
- Select Save to add the notification. Your new notification event appears in the Notification table.
Editing notifications
To edit a notification, follow these steps:
- Login to your Chatmeter account in LocationHQ.
- To view current notifications, go to Settings > Notifications. You’ll see a list of notification events that are set up or active.
- To edit a notification, click the notification in the list to display the Edit Notification popup.
- Make the changes you need.
- Select Save.
Deleting notifications
To delete notifications you no longer need, follow these steps:
- Login to your Chatmeter account in LocationHQ.
- To view current notifications, go to Settings > Notifications. You’ll see a list of notification events that are set up or active.
- Select the notification you want to delete by selecting the checkbox to the left of the notification.
- Select Delete 1 Notification.
- Respond to the Delete Notification challenge by selecting Delete. You’ll see the notification disappear from the notification listing.
